Vintage 1496 Pflueger Medalist Fly Fishing Reel circa 1938 (VERY NICE)

Up for your consideration is a Vintage 1496 Pflueger Medalist Fly Fishing Reel circa 1938. This must be one of the earliest 1496's with the drag system since the drag screw shaft is exposed.

This also has Patent Pending on the right side of the front rim, Diamolite Line Guard on the left side of the front rim, and No. 1496 on the bottom center of the front rim.

The foot is riveted on not screwed. Inside, the drag ratchet only has 2 slots not 4. As can be seen in the pictures, it has some paint wear from use and the front rim has been cleaned up but it would still fish good or would show nicely on a vintage rod. This reels spool turns very smoothly with no rubbing. Just a nice 80+ year old fly reel.
