The telescope is 13.5 inches long and has GREAT optics. The image is inverted, which allows more light to come thru the scope.
The trade-off, of course, is that the image is upside down. I didn't see any crosshairs in the scope.
The Alidade has a base of 18 inches and comes with everything shown in the pictures: original box and key, a striding level, a trough compass, a bubble vial with liquid, a cap for the scope, and a sun-shade. This is a VERY nice instrument with a pleasing patina. Please see my George Saegmuller - Fauth Makers Webpage for more info about this surveying instrument maker at. You can also see a 360 degree view with a high resolution ZOOM feature of the this Alididae at.
