Penn made this lock in many variations that it private labeled for companies like Shapleigh Hardware Co in St. Louis (usually marked SHC), Simmons Hardware in St.
Louis (usually marked S), Van Camp Hardware in Indianapolis, A. So far, we have collected nine different versions of the same lock. The most often seen is the C-20 version that was apparently made to celebrate the advent of the 20th Century prior to 1900 and then C version used after 1900 and apparently thru the end of WWI. This particular version is the'W' version, logically private labeled for a builder's supply hardware company somewhere in the U. We have removed all the old dirt, oil and paint by bead blasting the box and then restored the interior of the lock followed by a coat of clear Rust-o-leum.
