She saved her favorite pieces for herself, and this was her best crock. It's not huge, but it is in excellent condition.
This is an original antique (mid-late 19th century) 2 gallon stoneware crock with salt glaze on the outside, Albany slip glaze on the inside, and softer blue markings on the front including an uncommon Drop 8 type pattern. It was produced in Minnesota between 1877 and 1895? Albany (brown) slip interior with beige salt glazed exterior and a hand drawn raised blue design. There is a surface chip on the inside top rim (pictured).
It feels like it's been there a long time. A small bit of character. I can find no other post-birth blemishes.
