Her body is carved wood with articulated arms and legs. The joints are held in place with wood pegs. All joints move very nicely. She has typically scoop shaped front lower legs with painted black shoes.
There is typical age related wear to the wood but nothing significant. My dolls all come from estates of serious doll collectors and this one is no exception re condition for her age. Her dress is a heavy weight cotton black floral with lace trim and is vintage/old and is in very good shape most likely newer than the doll. She is wearing a wonderful lace trimmed/eyelet cotton slip and long pantaloons under the dress. There is a bonnet in the Beidermeir style that matches the dress. The lower waist line of the dress says not really empire style but a bit later like Beidermeir or mid to later 19th C in style. The clothing is very well sewn, and it is possible she may have been stored away for years thus her great condition. There is age loss to the face paint although not enough wear to hide that characteristic peg wood doll look/ She stands around 13 tall and sits nicely as you can see. A simply wonderful addition to an EARLY doll collection she would look SUPER sitting by an Izannah or Greiner...
