1893 BRANFORD POCKET DOOR MORTISE LOCK SET w/KEY - BRASS - VERY NICE (12488). Vintage: Circa 1885 -1889, very nice match set of both the male and the female mortise lock for a pair of pocket doors. Very clean push buttons work fine to pop the pull handles and the key works great too. The faceplates each measure 8" long and 1 1/4" wide with a convex round face and the concave round faces matching perfectly. The female box measure 5 5/8" high and 3" from the back of the front edge to the back edge of the box. The male box measures 4 from the back of the front edge to the back of box. The female mortise had been painted and all the old paint and grime was carefully removed. Now each mortise is a wonderfully clean piece.

This is a quite well made door mortise lock set, ideal for restoring an old pocket door. The set was featured in the 1893 Branford Catalog as marketed by Yale & Towne (see picture). Very clean, functions very well! Corbin was right: Great houses do deserve great hardware!
