1880's Oak Buffet / Gargoyle Or Devil & Dragon Carvings Orig Finish Very Nice
Impressive late 1800'S oak buffet with very unusual carvings in original very good finish and condition. The detailed top crest carving looks like a winged gargoyle but could be something else, possibly Satan, it is not something I have seen on a piece of furniture. Each bottom door has what appears to be a dragon. There are two bow front drawers, one is felt lined. One large drawer and two doors that can be locked with original key. Original cast brass hardware, one drawer knob is missing small piece of brass. Original beveled mirror is good with few small age spots. This is fairly large buffet, it is 48" wide, 24" deep at top, it is approx 77 to top of figure crest. Can de taken apart into 3 sections to move, base, mirror, and top crown. Claw feet on front, on casters, but they are easily removed. The felt lining in one top drawer has been replaced and the center drawer bottom is also replaced.
