There were a total of 26,000 dolls made. The original order was for 5,000 dolls to be made by the JD Kestner doll company in Germany. This doll was 18 with blue eyes and mold #171 with a composition body...... When kestner ran out of dolls they used the 18 blue eye Heinrich Handwerck doll....... The markings on these dolls are----- Germany--Heinrich Handwerck --Simon and Halbig --with a 1 down low on the neck. This is a very nice doll. Beautiful bisque, no hairlines, cracks or repairs....... Beautiful original blue sleep eyes........
She has all of her fingers and toes, It looks like one finger left hand ring finger might have been glued back on, you don't see it unless you are looking for it. She does have a small firing crack behind one ear which is common..... She is wearing a Daisy replacement mohair wig........... The body is in very nice condition (original finish) with the red Heinrich Handwerck stamp..... The dress, slip and pantaloons she is wearing came on her I washed them.
The dress is a little fragile with some repairs and a few holes...... I'm sure this is the dress a mother made back in 1911 when the doll was new.
I added a new silk ribbon around the waist...... The shoes are antique, but I don't think they are original to her. PICTURES ARE PART OF THE DESCRIPTION---- PLEASE STUDY PICTURES AND ASK QUESTIONS.
