I dont have the key and cant test lock but visually looks to be in working condition. Ive had this for a little while and have done a ton of research, based on what I found this box is definitely mid to late 1800s. From the brass hardware to the Eagle Lock Co. Lock, to the construction of the box all signs point to that time period. Im a carpenter by trade, I was immediately in love with this chest! Its definitely handmade, you can look at the miters or the small imperfections to see that no machine put this together. The drawers are even built just a tiny bit different so that they have to go in there own special spot, key give away that its handmade as well. I didnt notice any cracks, just normal wear. 1/2 of the drawers have carpet. The skill and patience it took to build this is on a level we dont see today. Truly a peice of art. Condition is Used and may show signs of wear as well as missing pieces.
Refer to pics for condition and ask any questions. As I said Im not an expert, I dont know if something is missing or broke if I dont know what it looked like to begin with. I want to relay the exact condition as much as possible but will need your guidance. If you see any conflict between what is listed and what is in the photos please let me know and I will correct any mistakes.
